On Memorial Day we went up the canyon with a few families from are ward: Andreasons' and the Millers'. Trav and Wes A. planned out the details of the day and Andrea and I planned out the food.

We went up Gooseberry and went fishing of the shore(a very very muddy shore). Earlier that morning Mal and I went to Walmart to get her a fishing pole. She was so excited! Trav had got one for his Birthday in Sept. and it had never been used. If you know us-you know we are not so good at the outdoorsy stuff. We like it, but we're just not so experienced. Anyways, we get there and the Andreason's stop to get the meat going and we stay at the lake and get set to fish...until Trav realizes that he doesn't have the top half of his pole! I thought it was so funny-he did NOT! I was glad that we at least had a Barbie one at this point. But if any of you know the Andeasons' know that they had back up! They are super dooper at all the out doorsy stuff! They even had an extra little one for Mason to use! I had so much fun just sitting back and watching.

The kids actually caught most of the fish. Wes was so awesome with all the kids. He hardly got any time to fish himself because he would unhook a fish a kid caught and then cast their pole out and another kid would get one. Altogether there were 2 kids 12 and older-tons of help and 8 kids 8 and under. They all kept him busy. And where is Trav??? Determined to catch a fish he stayed in a little hole a few feet from us. Finally after Malarie had already caught 4 and Mason had already caught 3, Trav got one!!!! YEAH Trav!

Masons first fish: Said it was slimmy

Wes casting Mals little Barbie pole- hes a pro!

Yea one fish!

After fishing we went to the camp and got dinner ready. The kids just went around and played and got messy, the guys talked and made a big fire and we cooked. I made dutch oven potatoes(with Andreas help and dutch oven) and a frog eyed salad, she made the roast, and Cathy Miller made a salad and chips. I don't know why everything tastes better when your camping but it does. I was super worried about the potatoes because I forgot to bring salt and pepper and ketchup! I actually went over to another camp site and asked if we could borrow some salt- I almost asked about the pepper and ketchup but I didn't want to push it :) They were all dying that I would ask but I felt I owed them some tasty potatoes!
After dinner I brought out the mixins' for smores! I LOVE a good smore! I love dessert camping- it is just so much fun. I felt bad for Mason at this point though. I think he is getting his 2 yr old molars. He was asleep in the van and missed all the fun. Poor little guy!

After we got done devouring our smores it looked like rain. It was such a random day. We had everything from hot hot sun, to hail, to cold and windy back to sunny and the....DOWN POUR! I am SO glad we packed up in less then 10 min. It didn't start until we were all in the car! Whew!
We had so much fun! We loved being with the Adreasons and Millers. It was are real first outing with them and we had a blast! We have already planned our next camping trip- this one will be overnight:)

Thats Wyatt holding the catch of the day. and gutting them latter. He is such an awesome BOY!
